Google has finally confirmed that Android 9.0 ‘P’ will be called Pie. The potential successor of Android Oreo brings in some significant features that mostly revolves around Artificial Intelligence.
The Android Pie 9.0 prominently includes features like Adaptive Battery that uses machine learning to prioritise system resources for the apps, App Actions that help you raise the visibility of your app and help drive engagement using machine learning. On top of that, there is a key feature called Slices, which is a new way to surface rich, templated content in places like Google Search and Assistant.
On the very same day of the official announcement, the company has released the stable update for Pixel smartphones and also started rolling out OTA update (OTA images) for those who have signed up for the beta program.

Good news awaits owners of newer Sony, Xiaomi, HMD Global ( NOKIA ), Oppo, Vivo, and OnePlus phones, as well as 'qualifying' Android One devices. Google says these companies, which all participated in the Android Pie beta (as did Essential), will issue the update by the end of autumn (that's in the northern hemisphere, which is officially over on Friday, December 21. That's where we get that date.
